The IB Inquirer Busy Bees made an inquiry into how people use their senses to understand of scientific principles.
Committed to discover the Central Idea of discovering interrelationships between living things and their environments we investigated our school area and looked for our own object of interest and presented them to the class.
We wrote three sentences about our favorite objects, describing it and how it works or its purpose (Form) A study was made into lines of inquiry of using the five senses by guessing what’s inside the Mystery Box of Senses. (connection)We also discussed the various reasons why some objects have acceptable smell, taste and feel and why others do not. (causation) We also discussed how to take care of our senses and things we should do to keep it healthy. (responsibility)
Student Learning assessment: Using the sensory word walls the Teacher will say a sensory word and each Bee will have to answer what senses is used. Each correct answer gets a lego block and the student with most number of the Lego blocks, wins
Learner Profiles & Attitudes: Students will be will be risk-takers when they use their senses to explore safely and more deeply. Students will be curious about what they observe and enthusiastically inquire about new ideas. They will look for answers to their questions.
MONDAY DISCOVERY :
Unravelling the Mystery taste box. The Bees will check with their fingers, taste their fingers and choose the Pumpkin emotion of the taste. We have the Angry Pumpkin, We have the Blehhh Pumpkin and we have a happy pumpkin for the other students to guess the taste “word” form our word wall. We had a fun time guessing the lemon, salt, peanut butter jelly, brown sugar and coffee!
TUESDAY DISCOVERY: Can you feel me?
The Bees will feel the objects inside our Mystery box and tell the class the sensory word from our word wall: Is it, hard, smooth, soft, spiky, squishy, wet, cold, rough and try to guess the object. A lot of surprising objects were discovered and not so feeling good ones too like the squishy chia gel and the sticky honey. We discovered cold, hard ice cubes, spiky corals, spiky pine cones, wet, soft cottons, rough jutsack and spiky hairbrush among other things. We ended our touch activity by uncovering what’s inside our jelly: a bobbin, pistachio shells, bottle squash seeds, pumpkin seeds.
WEDNESDAY DISCOVERY:

Afer assessment, we planned out for our next activity: HABITAT Diorama making wich we will used for the whole school to celebrate Earth Day on April
